KHARTOUM (AFP) – The Sudanese army and the rebel Justice and Equality Movement have both suffered deaths during clashes since Khartoum signed an agreement with the rebels, the army and JEM said on Friday.
Skirmishes on Thursday left 11 Sudanese soldiers dead or wounded, while 17 JEM fighters were killed, including an officer from Chad, army spokesman Osman al-Aghbash told the Sudanese Media Centre, linked to the state information service.
Chad and Sudan each accuse the other of supporting rebellions on their neighbour's territory.
