CIA Uses British Informants To Track Terrorism

THE CIA has begun an unprecedented intelligence-gathering operation in Britain to help MI5 monitor 4000 terrorism suspects.

The US intelligence service is recruiting and handling a record number of informers within the British Pakistani community with the tacit agreement of the Government, security sources in Washington and London say.

Almost half of CIA operations to prevent attacks in the US are now conducted against targets in Britain.

This has led to friction between British and American spies, with some US intelligence officers irritated that resources are being diverted to gather intelligence on suspects in their closest ally's backyard.

British intelligence officers do not know the identity of all the CIA informants and are uneasy about some of the uses to which the intelligence has been put. However, MI5 as a whole is glad of the help, and works closely with its sister service.

My Comment: Forget about the friction between the CIA and MI5 .... I am focused on the 4,000 who have been deemed as threats, and that a number of them are targeting the U.S. This is unbelievable .... a number of these men are Pakistani born, what is U.K. immigration thinking? No wonder U.S. intelligence is shy to share information with the Brits.
