My daddy was born in East Texas. His great uncles served on the Confederate side during the Civil War. 32 Mungers fought for the rebels, 287 for the Union. Although I qualify through my daddy's family and other family affiliations to be a member of the "Sons of Confederate Veterans," I can't imagine wanting to be associated with such an organization.
People in the Old South see Sarah Palin as their hope. Let them. If they keep promoting Palin's rising star, at the expense of rational candidates, rational ideas, the GOP will end up being the party of the Old South only.
With the exceptions of Florida and Virginia. And, within 10 or 12 years, Georgia and Louisiana.
