--- by Michelle MeyerThe Oiled Regions of Alaska (ORA) Foundation is a community based non-profit foundation established by and for Alaskans. Like you, each of us and our families, friends, neighbors and communities suffered from the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
We know that long-term damages continue to haunt our fishing businesses and affect our daily lives. We realize any monetary damage award will not come close to compensating us, our communities and regions for the permanent losses.
This is why affected people joined together to form the Oiled Regions of Alaska Foundation. This foundation serves to help individuals, families and communities rebuild and recover by creating a permanent way to give back year after year.
ORA, through your tax deductible donation and support, gives grants to organizations, agencies and communities – including civic, cultural, educational, health care and social welfare organizations. Priority is given to requests from ORA’s geographical area, in order to benefit the well being of the region.
