Bush Defends Military Intervention Tactics And Warns Pakistan

WEST POINT, New York: President George W. Bush defended his doctrine of military intervention to shut down potential national security threats before they mature, and he issued a pointed message to Pakistan that "we will do what is necessary to protect U.S. troops and the American people."

Bush delivered the remarks during a speech Tuesday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he first enunciated the "Bush doctrine" of preventive attack in 2002.

My Comment: President Obama will be following a different strategy. Military intervention will be replaced with diplomatic intervention, and "preventive attack" will not be the priority. I hope that the soon to be President Obama and his team is right .... but my gut tells me that the Bush Doctrine has protected us for 7 years because of the military option, and its replacement will not give us the same guarantees.
