Abizaid: Iraq Pullout Must Be 'Measured'

The United States can afford to start pulling troops out of
Iraq but must remain mindful that the situation is still
fragile, the former top U.S. military commander in the
region said Tuesday.

In an interview after accepting Patriot of the Year honors
at a luncheon in Mobile, retired Army Gen. John Abizaid said
a sharp reduction in violence gives the United States an
opportunity to begin withdrawing in a "measured"
way.
