Tonight's candidate debate at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA Campus (at the corner of 36th and Lake Otis) will begin at 7:00 p.m.Several sites, including Progressive Alaska, had listed the start time as 6:00 p.m. Technically, that isn't entirely in error. Between 6:00 and 7:00, former KTUU-TV News Director, John Tracy will play tapes he has made, interviewing U.S. Senate candidates Mark Begich and Ted Stevens. Ted isn't in town. He's busy listening to other tapes.
At 7:00 p.m, Berkowitz and Rep. Young will face off, in their first head-to-head Anchorage debate since the primary races were settled. The debate topics, hosted by the AARP - boy, are they hard to get in touch with in Anchorage! - will "include Social Security, Medicare, access to health care and the increasing cost of utilities."
