Jake Metcalfe Signs Coming Down...?

I've gotten two reports this morning of Jake Metcalfe signs disappearing overnight in Anchorage. They're still up at his Anchorage campaign office, though.

Somebody suggested that maybe Bill Scannell went around, taking them down late last night, as payback.

Meanwhile, the Anchorage Daily News editors must be reading Progressive Alaska. They editorialized this morning on what I wrote about last Friday, regarding the opacity of Jake Metcalfe's May 1st press release.

At that time, I wrote, "Jake's Thursday press release could have been written by Don Young's staff - This is the final comment the Metcalfe campaign will be making on this subject - was indeed the final statement of the release. But, unless Jake starts canceling appearances, he will have to continue to address this issue if he expects to win the August primary."

Today, the ADN echoed PA from five days ago, declaring, "Before Scannell resigned, Metcalfe told the Daily News he'd try to get to the bottom of what happened. But -- abracadabra! Scannell resigned, and Metcalfe miraculously expects the whole affair to go away. He issued a terse written statement saying "It's time for me to move on" and "This is the final comment the Metcalfe campaign will be making on this subject."

"This blatant stonewalling isn't acceptable from someone who wants to serve in Congress. Metcalfe's maneuver here is just as bad as Congressman Don Young refusing to say why he has spent over $1 million on lawyers."

Actually, ADN editors, Young's conduct in this matter, and in many others, is far, far worse. Duh.... I'm detecting more Don Young Bipolar Disorder at the highest levels of the ADN.

Update - 11:00 a.m: The 4'X8' signs on Tudor went down by request of the MOA. That's according to Jake's office. I asked that they pass on to their candidate that I hope he deals real soon with the ADN editorial's issues. I was told, "Thanks, I'll pass that on to Jake."
