White Dog awoke from her post-Park morning nap annoyed by the sounds of concrete sawing. "They pretend to be done but keep coming back to torture us," she complained of the road construction guys. To distract her, White Dog and I went to the computer to do some research on the history of the Maltese because her friend Poppy (and mom) were curious. We found out that Poppy's ancestors probably came from Asia and ended up in Malta because it was on the trade route. It seems the breed has pretty much always existed to be just a cute lap dog. "It figures," said White Dog not unkindly. Aristotle even mentions Maltese dogs in his writing! White Dog was amazing that they are distantly related to the Spitz family. "Very distantly," she archly noted. We sent the info to Poppy and then rewarded our work with treats.
