White Dog has had trouble jumping up on the bed in the middle of the night when the blankets are is a shifting heap and our legs are in the way. She wakes Steve (politely by tapping his arm) to help her up. To assist her (and stop the interruptions of Steve's sleep) I ordered a set of doggie stairs to place at the end of the bed. The stairs arrived today. White Dog and Steve unpacked them and attached the treads. Then we attempted to coax White Dog into using them...unsuccessfully. Treats failed; pleading failed; physically placing her on the steps failed. We have decided on a strategy of "wait and let curiosity work its magic." The stairs sit at the end of the couch beckoning every time White Dog walks by or jumps past.
