White Dog's Gotcha Day is today! She came to us three years ago, a tiny 3lb. ball of fluff all alone on a plane from Kansas. Our lives have not been the same since. To celebrate, White Dog and Steve got up very early so that they could run in the park. When they returned, we all cuddled under the blankets, heads on pillows, and I told the story of "Our Beginning." White Dog really likes hearing about Steve's eight-page list of possible names and laughs at the thought that she could have been christened "Dagmar!" At lunchtime White Dog enjoyed a beef rib bone that we had been saving for just this day. She savored the treat all afternoon. She and I took extra breaks from work for belly rubs and hugs and trick practice. Steve surprised us both by coming home early from class and bringing dessert which we ate before dinner! White Dog loves the creamy custard inside eclairs made by Flying Star Bakery (although I still slip and call the neighborhood landmark Double Rainbow)...and I had been eclair "jones-ing" for weeks. Steve loved the Gotcha Day t-shirt White Dog chose from Casper's mom's art. he also thinks the Lesley's Life is Sweet Chocolates are beautiful to look at as well as have a great mission ("to give the gift of hope to others through the sales of artisanal chocolates.") You can't feel guilty indulging if it is helping to make the world better, right? For dinner we shared bbq ribs (a favorite of both White Dog and Steve). Now we are enjoying just being together...and the fact that we "got" each other!
