Spain captures Table Tennis Cup in debut appearance

Spain took the International Table Tennis Cup last Wednesday, defeating Australia 21-13. It was a mostly one sided affair with Spain dominating the final with powerful forehands from the baseline. Australia gained most of its points through skillful winners but all soft shots by Australia were converted to unreturnable winners by Spain.

Last competition's silver medalist, Canada, greatly struggled and only won against female competition during the qualifying heats. Canada said, "Spain stole my manhood and my balls!" following a decimating 21-1 defeat to Spain. Canada managed to snatch the bronze medal by narrowly defeating France.

Since winning the last 'Wimbeldon of Sana'a' Germany relocated to Sayyon in the Hadhromout and declined to defend her crown. This was a dissapointment for the crowds as Germany's powerful returns and short spin game would have been an interesting contest to the Spanish powerhouse.

Following some impressive friendly appearances and rumours she was once a tennis prodigy, France was favoured to be amongst the medals. However her continous failure to convert lobs into winning smashes and lapses in concentration led to her narrow loss to a low-in-confidence Canada. As with her previous appearance, France showed the amazing shots which earned her the title of a former prodigy.

The United States never looked in the right league in the inagural competition and despite nominating a new contenstant, was unable to improve on the wooden spoon result of America's last appearance.

Next cup is sure to be another exciting spectacle and is planned for this Wednesday night or the following Wednesday night.
