From Ectaco 600,000 word dictionaries for $400 Australian, to Atlas 3 million word dictionaries for $500 to....
$5 for a 50 million word Franklin / Adawliah dictionary!!!
Yes it has short vowels marked for many of the definitions, but not all and not for the general Arabic interface which can be switched between Arabic and English. When it arrived it was in Arabic and I encountered some difficulty changing it to English because I was without a manual.
I bought this Dictionary from eBay for $5 because there was no reserve and no one interested in it except me. This was a better bargain than when I got the complete Linguaphone Arabic course for $15. Truly there is massive money to save if you buy 2nd hand of Arabic quiters (or, yeah there's a possibility that the sellers are people who reached Arabic mastery and no longer need their materials).
I have such strongly mixed feelings now. To defy the warnings and go anyway and to just stay and save to go to Syria. I honestly salute anyone who has the courage to go to Yemen.
Hang on...... perhaps these warnings are overboard. Be alert and cautious and you'll be fine.. maybe. I know another Yemen blog from an American girl and know 3 other American guys. Apparently the most common studiers of Arabic in Yemen are actually Americans. Gee they're a brave bunch
