OHIM’s biennial European Trade Mark and Design Judge’s Symposium took place last week on 29 and 30 September. Community trade mark and design judges from the various Member States and from candidate countries, as well as representatives from OHIM and its Boards of Appeal and the European Court of Justice gathered in Alicante to discuss various items relating to CTMs and, for the first time, CDs. The programme included sessions on counterfeiting as it affects Community IP right, co-operation between OHIM and the national courts and controlling the legality of administrative decisions on trade mark and design issues. The UK was represented by Lord Justice Jacob and Geoffrey Hobbs QC (in his capacity as an Appointed Person).
The IPKat looks forward to reading some of the papers, and hopes they’ll be available online soon, as they have been for previous years. Watch this space.
