The IPKat has just
noticed that an application has been made to have the term MELANNURCA CAMPANA recognised as a protected geographical indication (PGI). The notice, published in the European Commission's
Official Journal, waxes lyrical about its qualities. Curiously, though, it's not until you get to the second page of the notice, in para.4.2, that there's anything to tell you that MELANNURCA CAMPANA is an apple. If the IPKat ruled the world, the word "apple" would appear somewhere in the first line, so that people who weren't interested in "apple-ations" of origin could stop reading at that point and not waste their time. Merpel says, "pip-pip"!
