The
IP newsletter of Irish law firm
Matheson Ormsby Prentice reports that IRMA, the
Irish Recorded Music Association is following the lead of its US and UK cousins and is chasing 17 individuals who have engaged in large-scale serial file-sharing (i.e. 2,000 files or more, which is said to equate to 200 albums). Damages and injunctive relief are the goal, but IRMA is starting with a quest for discovery of the identities of its 17 targets.
The IPKat notes that, despite its traditionally laid-back attitude towards copyright enforcement, Ireland can no longer be regarded as a haven for mass file-sharing.
