English journalist and writer Martin Short states that P-2 was a regular lodge. He describes the close relationship between P-2 and the English Grand Lodge. Short states that P-2 was different from other lodges only in that it was a secret lodge.
Former Italian prime ministers Giulio Andreotti and Bettino Craxi were reportedly Masons. The Mafia's boss of bosses, Salvatore Riina, was as a Mason. According to the newspaper La Stampa, Riina's stated that many Italian Mafia bosses and many judges were Masons; judges sometimes helped the Mafia.
