The BBC recounts the story of a hapless vendor of counterfeit DVDs who inadvertently offered his wares to his local trading standards office. It seems that he missed the sign on the building. When he found out where he was, he fled leaving £210 but was later apprehended in a local supermarket.. In what must be a strong contender for IP understatement of the year, Peter Martin, Essex County Council's cabinet member in charge of Trading Standards, said:
“It would be great if all pushers of counterfeit goods would come to our offices to try and sell their wares. It would make the life of our dedicated team a great deal easier.”The IPKat is lost for words.
