Human Rights Have No Borders Dear friends, These children are afraid. They’re in danger. Too many are alone. Why? They fled war in search of safety but now they’re trapped in appalling conditions. Traumatized. When crisis strikes, children get the worst of it. Families are torn apart. Food is scarce. Safety is nonexistent. We must show refugee children that we haven’t forgotten them. Every child deserves to feel safe. Our teams exposed the appalling camp conditions in Elliniko, Greece. We saw it with our own eyes — young families, elderly people and children totally alone, living in squalor. Women and girls told us they could not leave their tents for fears they’d be sexually harassed. Together we've urged the Greek authorities to provide safe alternative housing solutions. And they've taken the initial steps to make this happen. But we must do more to help get refugees out of the camps and into safe homes. Tonight, children will sleep cold and scared, traumatized by the war they have fled. But Luc, we have a plan. We're urging governments around the world to show leadership and resettle more of the world’s most vulnerable refugees. We can do this. Together we are part of a movement of seven million people. When we all come together, anything is possible. Sincerely, Margaret Huang EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA P.S.
